Today at a glance:
quick rant on having an experimental mindset
Growth in marketing & natural selection
I recently listened to a podcast where David Arnoux, co-founder of GrowthTribe, brought up a compelling example about experimentation in marketing:
"The law of the jungle is feedback loops. It takes billions of years."
Nature has evolved through countless experiments, which has got us to where we are today. The scientific method of information collection through trial and error. We should embrace this mindset more often in marketing, and more generally, in life, too.
Experimarketing
How do successful companies get to where they are? Through rigorous testing and experimenting with different channels, approaches, and strategies. And fast.
Sounds logical, obvious, and talked about enough, but here are a few examples to back up this claim:
And here's a nice infographic by Conduo that sums up why the experimental mindset is a must:

This experimental mindset has really stood out for me recently since I know it's been a weakness of mine, more so in life in general. I have in the past refrained from following through with business ideas or even starting a newsletter.
I guess that's a solid example of how an experimental mindset may pay off - I'm here and writing this to myself, you, and that other person reading it. 🏆

Just like growth in marketing often comes thanks to experimentation (and taking risks), growth surely happens in life for the same reason.
Try out new things in life, launch that marketing campaign you've been thinking of, start your business, or pick up that new thing you've always wanted to do but keep putting off due to thinking it's too complex or hard to do. Fuck being perfect, just go for it.
Try it without going into too much detail, and see where it takes you. If you fail, you still learn. Take this knowledge and move on to your next experiment.

That's it for this one. In the next newsletter, I'll go more in-depth into experimentation in marketing and will explore proven frameworks and examples of how to leverage this type of mindset in marketing.

As promised last time, here's a list of traction channels from Gabriel's book "Traction". Instead of reinventing the wheel, I found a nice overview here:

I am waiting for my new hardcover book to arrive. I just can't get myself to read eBooks for some reason (unless the book is really really good and I forget myself reading it).
